AMIHO proudly announces receiving an official trademark certification for one of its latest innovative products – a unique software stack named TRIoT. Developed by AMIHO, the stack delivers 3-in-1 benefits for #SmartMetering #BuildingAutomation #SmartHome #SmartLighting and other #IoT applications.
In combination with AMIHO’s AM094-LW modem the TRIoT is an ultimate wireless solution for IoT projects which supports wireless M-Bus, LoRa® and LoRaWAN™ all on 1 device at 868 and 915 MHz. This innovation reduces the complexity of IoT projects and the infrastructure cost, whilst at the same time increasing reliability by including encryption and decryption AES128, AES256. The distinctive functionality of the TRIoT is bridging between layers: wireless M-Bus to LoRa as well as wireless M-Bus to LoRaWAN all at 868 MHz.
About wireless M-Bus, LoRa, LoRaWAN
Wireless M-Bus is a European standard for remote reading of different types of meters. LoRa is a point-to-point modulation scheme which achieves a range up to 15km. LoRaWAN adds a network layer, the ability to connect to a public network (where available) and providing more security to bidirectional communications.
Benefits of ‘Bridging’ wireless M-Bus to Long Range for IoT applications?
For existing wireless M-Bus networks:
AMIHO’s TRIoT can leverage those networks by acquiring and bridging signals to LoRa or LoRaWAN and increasing the initial range up to 15 km. It introduces benefits of new cost effective data acquisition & management tools to existing networks. The data reaches LoRa/LoRaWAN gateways then to be available in the Cloud and to be analysed and utilised accordingly. These benefits are available without the need for replacing already fitted and working wireless M-Bus devices, meters and sensors. This wireless solution reduces the cost of additional infrastructure as (depending on the application) only small number of ‘Bridges’ will be required. In addition, the TRIoT + AM094-LW are suitable for battery powered applications with battery life up to 10 years: pain-free reliable wireless solution with minimal installation and maintenance costs.
For manufacturers of wireless M-Bus products:
This innovation brings opportunity to increase the radio range of their proven devices without the need for redesigning their functionality. By adding TRIoT ‘bridge’ to wireless M-Bus networks, it can also increase the value of these wireless M-Bus devices for new age IoT applications. The AM094-LW modem was designed with user requirements in mind, so enough space on the MCU is left free to allow users to customise their application. The modem AM094-LW can be configured to send specific data, process data, trigger alarms/warnings/status messages and perform similar functions. The code with extra functionalities can be added during the integration process. Which products are being developed with the TRIoT on board at the moment?
We have been providing support in the integration of the TRIoT stack + AM094-LW for our European customers. One such product is a dual protocol water meter that can be configured to send data in wireless M-Bus or LoRaWAN, or in both. Another project employs our wireless M-Bus to LoRaWAN ‘bridge’ to connect existing water meters to LoRaWAN. More information regarding these project will be available after the official release of the end products in Autumn’17.
