LoRa Alliance April 2017 http://www.lora-alliance.org/

Being a highly secure and low power technology, LoRaWAN™ protocol rapidly has become a protocol of choice and the standard for IoT deployments.

From some short statistics released last month by the LoRa Alliance™ (see the picture above), it is fairly clear that LoRaWAN networks are now operating on a truly global level. AMIHO Technology is one of 460+ proud members of the Alliance and we are very pleased to see how the landscape of #SmartCity #SmartParking #SmartLighting #SmartMetering #SmartTracking and other projects is expanding.

The LoRaWAN networks provide excellent coverage in both urban and very remote rural areas, you can find out more about a few of the deployments in cities and countries around the world below:

Nationwide LoRaWAN in Canada

LoRaWAN IoT network deployed in Japan

Updated IoT loRaWAN network in Scotland

IoT network in New Zealand

Cambridge (UK) to be IoT testbed using LoRa wireless network

Semtech LoRa Technology to Enable Ireland’s Nationwide IoT Network

Some of the main benefits of  the LoRaWAN technology include:

  • The technologies were designed with battery powered applications in mind
  • A wide range of ready to use gateways and concentrators
  • Highly secure communications AES128 and AES256 encryption/decryption
  • Bidirectional connectivity
  • Signal range up to 15 km
  • High penetration capability

The LoRa Alliance is an open, non-profit association of members who believe that the Internet of Things era is now. Members of LoRa Alliance are deploying the LoRa® protocol, LoRaWAN, as the open global standard for secure, carrier-grade IoT LPWA connectivity.
LoRa stands for Long Range – a connectivity technology which provides up to 15 km range for RF point-to-point communications. LoRaWAN is ‘Long Range Wide Area Network’ and it is adds a network layer.

How can AMIHO help you with your wireless project?

With more than a quarter of a million installations of our technology, AMIHO expedited time to market of many Smart Metering, Building Automation and other IoT rollouts across Europe and Africa. We produce ready to use hardware (the RF modems for: wireless M-Bus, LoRa and LoRaWAN protocols) and customisable software stacks. We provide integration support of our hardware and software inside other devices which must be reliably connected to LoRa applications, wireless M-Bus and LoRaWAN networks.

A majority of our customers are companies which have very limited time for integrating connectivity modems/software in their products or who do not have RF expertise/resources to accomplish the integration themselves. We can also supply modems and licences to our software stacks in any required volumes.

AMIHO’s latest releases:

  • the unique TRIoT™ stack supporting wireless M-Bus, LoRa and LoRaWAN plus bridging between protocols on 1 device
  • the AM094-LW LoRaWAN modem at 868
  • the AM093 wireless M-Bus and LoRa dual-band modem at 169 and 868 MHz.
